FIND YOUR WORD
Finding your WORD is a simple, fun, and empowering exercise.
In a world inundated with distractions, it’s powerful to have a daily reminder of what you want to actively focus on, or manifest, everyday.
The WORD you choose will evolve over time, it’s what you want to remind yourself for this chapter of your life, it may be a few weeks or months.
STEP 1START WITH A QUESTION
Choose one or two of the following questions and jot down the first words that come to mind:
- What’s a goal of yours?
- What brings you joy?
- Is there something that you want to let go of?
- Is there something you want to improve upon?
- What energizes you or makes you feel like your true-self?
What’s holding you back from achieving the the answers in Step 1?
What WORD, as a daily reminder, would help you achieve what you seek from Step 1?
For example, If you want to start your own business but have some doubts you’d like to overcome, you could choose a word such as BELIEVE, COURAGE, or IGNITE. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, you may choose a reminder like BREATHE, STRENGTH, or FAITH.
STEP 3IDENTIFY YOUR WORD
You may have come up with a few words, and that’s ok, but what is the one WORD that is the most important, the priority,
to begin working on today?
Declare outloud “My WORD is ___________!”
FIND THEIR WORD IN 3 STEPS
STEP 1ENGAGE WITH A QUESTION
Engage and get their full attention by asking “What’s Your WORD?” or Ask a more focused question by either using the MyIntent Question Cards, or you can freestyle by asking your own questions to incite self reflection. Pause, listen, and encourage as they self-reflect and thoughtfully answer.
Encourage them to elaborate on their response, if needed. Their first answer might just be the surface of something they’re about to discover about themselves. Try to identify the source of any imbalances, barriers, needs and ask them about it. For example if their first answer was “COFFEE” ask them “Why would you want to remind yourself about coffee everyday?” “Because I need it to stay awake...” Now that you identify the problem find out why: “Are you not getting enough sleep?” “Yes I just have too much going on…” Now ask them about a solution: “Is there anything you could do to change that?” “Yes I need to get better organized...” Now find out how: “how would you do that?” “I need to make time for it… maybe over the weekend…”.
STEP 3IDENTIFY THEIR WORD
Invite them to break down their responses to a few words or short phrases that best represent what they’d like to invite into their life or what they need to be reminded of. It’s important to understand that the WORD can be very simple. It's what it reminds the person of that’s important, not the WORD itself. Following STEP 2 example the WORD could be “MAKE TIME” or “ORGANIZE”.
